Chandra Shekhar Azad University of Agriculture & Technology, Kanpur

Chandra Shekhar Azad University of Agriculture & Technology (CSAUA&T) is an agricultural university situated in Kanpur, Uttar Pradesh, India, named after the revolutionary Chandrashekhar Azad. Its history began in 1893 with a small school for training revenue officers, which grew into a Government Agricultural College in 1906, then the U.P. Institute of Agricultural Sciences in 1969, and finally became a full-fledged university in 1975, at which time the U.P. College of Veterinary Science & Animal Husbandry, Mathura was merged into it. The university comprises eight colleges spread across Kanpur, Etawah, Hardoi, and Lakhimpur Kheri district, covering disciplines such as agriculture, home science, forestry, horticulture, agricultural engineering, dairy technology, and fisheries. Admission to undergraduate programs is through UPCATET and CUET examinations. The university conducts extensive agricultural research through its Agricultural Research Station, having developed over 150 crop varieties and hybrids, and provides extension services and training to farmers through an Agricultural Technology Information Centre. Notable alumni include plant pathologist Kishan Singh and former MLA Hargovind Bhargava.
