Faculty of Pharmaceutical Sciences

The Faculty of Pharmaceutical Sciences, Chulalongkorn University, located in Bangkok, is the first pharmacy school in Thailand. It was founded on December 8, 1913, by Prince Rangsit Prayurasakdi as a department of Doctor for Compounding within the Royal Medical College, known as the 'School of Compounding Medicine.' After Chulalongkorn University's establishment in 1916, this department became part of the Faculty of Medicine and was later renamed the 'Doctor for Compounding Medicine Department' in 1917, then 'Department of Pharmacy' in 1933. Under the Chulalongkorn University Act of B.E. 2477, it became an independent department, though still overseen by the Dean of the Faculty of Medicine. In 1943, it became the Faculty of Pharmacy under the newly established University of Medical Sciences (now Mahidol University), though it continued operating within Chulalongkorn University's campus. The certificate program was upgraded to a Bachelor in Pharmacy in 1957. Today, the faculty offers bachelor's, master's, and PhD programs, including 6-year undergraduate courses in Pharmaceutical Sciences and Clinical Pharmacy, across seven departments, and participates in international exchange programs with universities such as Chiba University. It was ranked 101–150 globally by QS World University Rankings by subject in 2017.
