Dayanand Arts College, Latur

Dayanand Education Society was established in May 1961 to bring higher education to students in the rural Latur area, which at the time lacked facilities for higher study, forcing students to travel to cities like Hyderabad, Pune, and Mumbai. The society was founded by dignitaries and businesspeople including Manikrao Sonavane, Chandrashekhar Vajpeyi, Ramgopal Rathi, and Keshavrao Sonawane, aiming to make education accessible to children of farmers, agricultural laborers, and workers. The society today runs eight colleges in Latur, including Dayanand College of Commerce, Dayanand College of Arts, Dayanand Science College, Dayanand College of Law, Dayanand College of Pharmacy, Dayanand College of Animation, Dayanand College of Fashion Designing and Interior Decoration, and Dayanand College of Architecture, along with the Dayanand Institute of Pharmacy. The institution offers education in both English and Marathi medium. It also serves as an authorized examination centre for the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI). The college was earlier affiliated with Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar Marathwada University, Aurangabad, but following the formation of a university in Nanded, it is now affiliated with Swami Ramanand Teerth Marathwada University. The college has also conducted academic events such as a state-level workshop on 'Gateway to NET/SET exams' held on 1 May 2010.
