NATIONAL INSTITUTE OF FASHION TECHNOLOGY, KOLKATA

The National Institute of Fashion Technology (NIFT) is an autonomous institute offering courses in fashion, technology, and management, with its head office located in New Delhi, India. NIFT was established in 1986 under the Ministry of Textiles, Government of India, and was declared a statutory institute in 2006 under the NIFT Act, which empowered it to grant its own degrees. NIFT currently has 19 campuses across the country, and the Kolkata campus was set up in 1995, along with campuses in Chennai, Gandhinagar, Hyderabad, and Navi Mumbai. NIFT offers undergraduate, postgraduate, and doctoral programmes in design, management, and technology, including Bachelor in Design, Bachelor in Fashion Technology, Master's in Design, Master's in Fashion Technology, Masters in Fashion Management, and PhD programmes. The institute also provides various labs and facilities such as computer labs, sewing machine labs, photography labs, pattern making and draping labs, weaving labs, dyeing and printing labs, and technology labs, as well as student facilities including a library, hostel, canteen, health care, and sports center.
