Hyderabad (SIND) National Collegiate University

The Hyderabad (Sind) National Collegiate Board, known as the HSNC Board, is a charitable trust established by the Sindhi community in 1922 (some sources say 1919) in the Sind province of British India. After the 1947 Partition, the Board relocated to Bombay, India, bringing its equipment, books, and movable possessions. It is one of the oldest educational trusts in India and currently administers 27 institutes. Its origins trace back to the D.G. National College, founded in 1917 in Hyderabad, Sind, under the inspiration of Dr. Annie Besant and Rishi Dayaram Gidumal. After Partition, the college was re-established in Bandra, Mumbai in 1949 as R.D. National College. In 2020, the HSNC University came into existence as a cluster university consisting of three of the Board's colleges: KC College, HR College, and Bombay Teacher's Training Institute (BTTI). It was launched on 11 June by Governor Bhagat Singh Koshyari in the presence of then-Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray. The Board also operates several other institutions across Churchgate, Bandra, and Ulhasnagar campuses in Mumbai, and counts numerous prominent politicians, judges, actors, and corporate leaders among its alumni.
