Chandigarh College of Architecture Sector-12
The Chandigarh College of Architecture (CCA) was established on 7 August 1961 in Chandigarh, India, set up to impart education in architecture as part of the Chandigarh Experiment initiated by Le Corbusier, who developed Chandigarh's master plan in 1951. The college covers the north-western region of India, including Punjab, Haryana, Himachal Pradesh, Chandigarh, and Jammu and Kashmir. It offers a five-year Bachelor of Architecture (BArch) program affiliated with Panjab University's Faculty of Design and Fine Arts, structured in a two-tier, ten-semester system since 1985, with a semester system in place since 1972. The curriculum was modified in 1998 to include interdisciplinary courses on themes like building automation and sustainable design. The campus, spread over 5 acres, is located within the PEC University of Technology campus in Sector 12, Chandigarh, and includes sports facilities. Annual events include 'Corbu Day,' celebrating Le Corbusier's birthday, and the 'Archo' college fest. In 2011, CCA celebrated its Golden Jubilee with Pritzker Prize laureate Eduardo Souto de Moura as keynote speaker. In 2024, CCA was ranked 30th in the NIRF Architecture Category. Notable alumni include Baburam Bhattarai, former Prime Minister of Nepal.
