College of Veterinary Science and Animal Husbandry Mhow

The College of Veterinary Sciences and Animal Husbandry, Mhow is a constituent college of Nanaji Deshmukh Veterinary Science University, Jabalpur, an autonomous veterinary university in India. It is considered a pioneer institution in veterinary sciences in India and one of the oldest veterinary colleges in Madhya Pradesh. Founded in 1955, its foundation stone was laid on 27 December 1954 by Shri V.V. Dravid, alongside founding Principal Dr. R.L. Kaushal. The college was officially inaugurated on 12 July 1955 as the 'College of Veterinary Science and Animal Husbandry cum Livestock Research Institute.' Its present building was inaugurated by Prime Minister Jawaharlal Nehru on 12 November 1959. Originally a satellite branch of Mathura Veterinary College under Agra University, it later awarded degrees through Vikram University, Ujjain, before joining Jawaharlal Nehru Krishi Vishwa Vidyalaya in 1964. It became part of Rajmata Vijayaraje Sindia Krishi Vishwa Vidyalaya in 2008 and was integrated into Nanaji Deshmukh Veterinary Science University in 2009. The campus, located about 5 km from Mhow cantonment and 18 km from Indore railway station, includes academic and administrative blocks, a teaching veterinary complex, a dairy farm, and a poultry farm. It offers undergraduate, postgraduate, and diploma programs, with hostel facilities including Gandhi Hall, Tagore Hall, and a girls' hostel, and hosts an annual cultural and sports week.
