ALL INDIA INSTITUTE OF AYURVEDA
The All India Institute of Ayurveda (AIIA) is a public Ayurveda medicine and research institution, with its main campus in New Delhi, India, functioning as an apex autonomous body under the Ministry of Ayush. It was conceived as an apex institute for Ayurveda, aiming to bring synergy between the traditional wisdom of Ayurveda and modern tools and technology. AIIA Delhi offers postgraduate and doctoral courses in various disciplines of Ayurveda, focusing on fundamental research, drug development, standardization, quality control, safety evaluation, and scientific validation of Ayurvedic medicine. It has a 200-bed referral hospital, 25 specialty departments, 12 clinics, and 8 inter-disciplinary research laboratories. The proposal for AIIA originated from a declaration by then-Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee in 2000, with its cornerstone laid in 2007 after Ministry of Finance approval in 2003. It has provided out-patient services since 2009 and was formally established as an autonomous institute under the newly created Ministry of Ayush in 2014. A satellite center of AIIA Delhi was established in Goa. The 2026 Union budget of India announced plans to create three new AIIA institutes.
