Regional Institute of Science & Technology

The Regional Institute of Science & Technology (RIST) was established in 2009 by the Erd Foundation, a charitable trust, as a technical college in northeastern India. It is recognized by the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) and affiliated to The North Eastern Hill University, Shillong, Meghalaya. RIST was created to address the need for technical personnel in the northeastern region. The institute is located on the hills of 9th Mile, opposite the CRPF group centre, Khanapara, in the Ri-Bhoi district of Meghalaya, about 6 km from Dispur, the capital of Assam, and 85 km from Shillong, the capital of Meghalaya. RIST offers BTech degrees in six engineering branches: Computer Science & Engineering, Electrical & Electronics Engineering, Electronics & Communication Engineering, Information Technology, Mechanical Engineering, and Civil Engineering, with varying intake numbers per branch. Admission is possible through a valid AIEEE score or the Common Entrance Test conducted by the ERD Foundation, with reserved seats for candidates from northeastern states selected by the Director of Technical Education. The campus provides facilities such as a computerized library, hostels for boys and girls, bus transport, leased line internet, over 100 networked desktop terminals, a gym, fitness studio, health care, an IT centre, and cafes and restaurants.
