INDIAN INSTITUTE OF MANAGEMENT AMRITSAR

IIM Amritsar is a public business school and Institute of National Importance situated in Amritsar, Punjab, India. It was established in 2015 by the Ministry of Human Resource Development as part of the Indian Institutes of Management Umbrella, and was formally inaugurated on 6 August 2015 by Surjit Singh Rakhra, the then Minister of Higher Education and Languages, Punjab. The institute was initially housed temporarily within the campus of Government Polytechnic College, Amritsar before shifting to its own eco-friendly campus of about 60 acres, built at Manawala on the Amritsar-Jalandhar GT Road over a ten-year period. The permanent campus includes student hostels equipped with amenities such as air conditioners, geysers, and washing machines, along with recreational facilities and round-the-clock library access. The institute's logo, inspired by the 'Flower of Life' design from the Golden Temple, was modified into a pentagonal geometry symbolizing Punjab, with blue and green elements representing the state's rivers and agricultural prosperity, and a five-edged star symbolizing mastery over the five human senses. The logo, designed by Prashant Anant Patil, was selected through a nationwide public competition held via the myGOV portal, with results announced in September 2019.
