NATIONAL INSTITUTE OF FASHION TECHNOLOGY

The National Institute of Fashion Technology (NIFT) is an autonomous institute offering programmes in fashion, technology, and management, with its head office in New Delhi, India. Established in 1986 under the Ministry of Textiles, Government of India, it became a statutory institute in 2006 under the NIFT Act, gaining the authority to grant its own degrees. NIFT has grown to include 19 campuses across India, one of which is located in Daman, in the union territory of The Dadra and Nagar Haveli and Daman and Diu, established in 2022. The institute offers undergraduate, postgraduate, and doctoral programmes in design, management, and technology, including Bachelor's and Master's degrees in Design, Fashion Technology, and Fashion Management, as well as PhD programmes. NIFT's campuses feature various labs such as computer labs, sewing machine labs, photography labs, and technology labs, along with student facilities like libraries, hostels, and health care services. The institute has also collaborated with the Ministry of Textiles on projects like creating an India-specific size chart and designing the Indian Army's camouflage uniform.
