CENTRAL INSTITUTE OF PETROCHEMICALS ENGINEERING & TECHNOLOGY (CIPET) - RAIPUR

The Central Institute of Petrochemicals Engineering and Technology (CIPET), formerly known as the Central Institute of Plastics Engineering and Technology, is an autonomous institution functioning under the Ministry of Chemicals and Fertilizers, Government of India. It was established in 1968 at Chennai in collaboration with the United Nations Development Program (UNDP) and the International Labor Organization (ILO). Since then, CIPET has expanded to have 43 operational centres across the country, with nine more centres under establishment, catering to the needs of the polymer and allied industries. The institute was set up to develop skilled manpower in various disciplines of Plastics Engineering and Technology, as no similar institution existed in India at the time. CIPET offers specialized academic and skill development training programs in Polymer Science and Technology, aiming to produce qualified human resources with entrepreneurial qualities for the polymer industry. It also provides technology support through consultancy services in design, tooling, plastics processing, testing, and quality assurance, along with dedicated research and development in polymeric materials. Admission to CIPET centers, including the Raipur campus, is conducted through a joint entrance examination held annually.
