Footwear Design and Development Institute (FDDI) - Patna is one of several campuses of FDDI, an educational institute headquartered in Sector-24, Noida, Uttar Pradesh. FDDI was established in 1986 under the aegis of the Ministry of Commerce and Industry, Government of India, with the objective of providing human resource and technical services to industry. In 2017, FDDI was upgraded to an Institute of National Importance by an act of parliament. Besides Patna, FDDI has campuses at Noida, Fursatganj (Raebareli), Chandigarh, Ankleshwar, Guna, Chennai, Hyderabad, Kolkata, Rohtak, Chhindwara, and Jodhpur. FDDI conducts professional courses including Fashion Design, Footwear Design & Production, Retail & Fashion Management, and Leather Lifestyle and Product Designing, with long-term courses offered as a four-year Bachelor of Design program. Admissions to undergraduate and postgraduate courses are made through the FDDI All India Selection Test (FDDI-AIST), a national-level entrance examination conducted in two stages: a written design and aptitude test followed by counselling. FDDI also engages in industrial consultancy, research and development, and training of industry professionals, supported by various specialized labs and facilities.
