College of Veterinary & Animal Sciences

The College of Veterinary and Animal Sciences (CVAS) is a sub-campus of the University of Veterinary and Animal Sciences, Lahore, situated in Jhang, Punjab, Pakistan. It was established in 2006 as an initiative for veterinary education under the special consideration of Lt. Gen. (Rtd.) Khalid Maqbool, then Governor of Punjab and Chancellor of the University of Veterinary and Animal Sciences, Lahore. The founding Principal was Prof. Dr. Ashiq Hussain Cheema, a renowned veterinary pathologist, and the current principal is Prof. Dr. Muhammad Fiaz Qamar. The college comprises five major departments—Pathobiology, Basic Sciences, Animal Sciences, Clinical Sciences, and Social Sciences—offering a five-year DVM degree program, a four-year BS Honors program in Applied Microbiology and Poultry Sciences, and postgraduate programs in ten disciplines. Its new campus spans 100 acres in two blocks, an Academics Block and a Clinical Veterinary Hospital, located 12 km along Chiniot Road, Jhang, near Chenab College. Facilities under development include dairy and poultry farms, processing units for milk, meat, and feed, a clinical centrum, libraries, an auditorium, sports facilities, and residences. The degree programs are accredited by the Pakistan Veterinary Medical Council (PVMC), and students participate in World Veterinary Day.
