Prime Ministers Museum and Library
The Prime Ministers' Museum and Library, called Pradhanmantri Sangrahalaya in Hindi, is a public museum and library situated in the Teen Murti Bhavan complex in New Delhi. It is curated and managed by the Prime Ministers' Museum and Library Society, an autonomous institution under the Ministry of Culture. The institution was originally established in 1964 as the Nehru Memorial Museum and Library (NMML), following the death of India's first prime minister, Jawaharlal Nehru, to preserve the history of the Indian independence movement and promote research on modern Indian history. It was inaugurated on 14 November 1964 by President Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan, and the Nehru Memorial Museum and Library Society was formed on 1 April 1966. Over time, the complex expanded with a dedicated library building inaugurated in 1974 and an Annex Building completed in 1989. In April 2022, under the Modi government, the institution was renamed and expanded into the Pradhanmantri Sangrahalaya, dedicated to chronicling the lives and legacies of all Indian prime ministers since independence in 1947. The new Building II, designed by Sikka Associates Architects, spans about 15,600 square meters and houses 43 galleries.
