DR BHIMRAO RAMJI AMBEDKAR GOVERNMENT MEDICAL COLLEGE KANNAUJ
Dr. Bhimrao Ramji Ambedkar Government Medical College, Kannauj, formerly Government Medical College Kannauj, is a government medical college situated in Tirwa, Kannauj district, Uttar Pradesh, India. The college receives guidance and mentorship from Ganesh Shankar Vidyarthi Memorial Medical College. It was established by the SP government in 2006 as Kannauj Medical College, but classes only began in 2012 when Akhilesh Yadav became Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh, at which point the institute was recognized for 100 M.B.B.S. seats by the Medical Council of India. Each year, 100 students are admitted to the M.B.B.S. course, historically through AIPMT (15% of seats) and the state-level UP-CPMT (85% of seats), though since 2016 NEET has been the sole entrance examination. The campus is located about 15 kilometers from Kannauj on Tirwa Road, roughly a 3-hour drive (or 1.5 hours via expressway) from Lucknow, with a 4-lane highway under construction for better connectivity. The nearest railway station is Kannauj Railway Station, and the nearest airport is Chaudhary Charan Singh International Airport.
