National Sanskrit University , Tirupati

National Sanskrit University is a central university situated in Tirupati, Andhra Pradesh, India. It provides regular courses at both undergraduate (bachelor's) and postgraduate (master's) levels, along with several distance learning programs. The subjects offered include Sahitya, Vyakarana, Advaita Vedanta, Dwaita Vedanta, Phalita Jyotisham, Purana Ithihasa, and Yoga Shastra. The institution was originally established in 1956 under the Ministry of Education by the Government of India with the aim of propagating Sanskrit studies, traditional Sastras, and pedagogy. In recognition of its achievements and research potential in Traditional Sastras, it was granted the status of a Center of Excellence in Traditional Sastras during the Tenth Five-Year Plan period in 1989. In March 2020, the Indian Parliament passed the Central Sanskrit Universities Act, 2020, which upgraded the institution—then known as Rashtriya Samskrita Vidyapeetha, a deemed-to-be university—into a central university renamed National Sanskrit University. This act simultaneously upgraded two other institutions, the Central Sanskrit University and Shri Lal Bahadur Shastri National Sanskrit University, to central university status as well.
