Silver Jubilee Degree College

Silver Jubilee Government College is located in B-Camp, Kurnool, Andhra Pradesh, India. It was established in 1972 by the government of Andhra Pradesh to mark the Silver Jubilee Celebrations of India's independence. The college was envisioned by then Chief Minister P.V. Narasimha Rao and M.V. Rajagopal, IAS, as a residential institution admitting students from the three regions of the state—Coastal Andhra, Telangana, and Rayalaseema—in a 42:36:22 ratio through a statewide entrance test, offering free boarding, lodging, and coaching. The University Grants Commission conferred autonomy on the college in 2005, and NAAC awarded it an 'A' grade. It offers undergraduate courses in Arts, Commerce, and Science, including vocational programs like Industrial Chemistry, Pharmaceutical Chemistry, Microbiology, Biochemistry, Computer Science, and Travel and Tourism, along with postgraduate courses in English, Telugu, Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, and Economics. In 2015, it became part of a cluster university with two other colleges. In 2022, the Andhra Pradesh government committed funds for a new 50-acre campus due to the college's deteriorating infrastructure. The college also supports NSS, NCC, sports, and gym facilities for students.
