Lala lajpat Rai University of Veterinary and Animal Sciences

Lala Lajpat Rai University of Veterinary & Animal Sciences (LUVAS) is a university named after freedom fighter Lala Lajpat Rai, located on NH-52 in Hisar city, Haryana, India. It sits immediately north of Hisar Airport and adjacent to the Central Sheep Breeding Farm, about 15 km northeast of Hisar Bus Stand and 17 km north of Hisar Junction railway station. The College of Veterinary Sciences was shifted to Hisar from Lahore in 1948, and it became part of Chaudhary Charan Singh Haryana Agricultural University in 1971, later being established as its own university with the college becoming part of it. Its 1125-acre campus was constructed at a cost of INR 629 crore in two phases, including administrative buildings, hostels, a veterinary hospital, research labs, livestock farms, and other facilities. The Bir Babran archaeological site, an unexcavated mound linked to the region's ancient settlement history, lies just north of the campus. LUVAS offers undergraduate through doctoral programs in Veterinary and Animal Science, operates five Regional Research Centres across Haryana, and has affiliated private colleges offering the B.V.Sc. & A.H. degree program.
