ST XAVIERS COLLEGE, BURDWAN
St. Xavier's College, Burdwan, West Bengal, India, is an undergraduate college opened in July 2014 by the Calcutta Province of the Society of Jesus, the same body that administers St. Xavier's College, Kolkata and other institutions across India and abroad. The college was officiated at its opening by Bishop Cyperian Monis of the Diocese of Asansol. Located in Purba Bardhaman, about 100 km north-west of Kolkata, the college traces the Jesuit presence in the region back to the 1960s, when an English medium school was opened for the local Santhal Christian population. The college is affiliated to The University of Burdwan and offers three-year honors courses including B.A. in English, Sociology, and Geography; B.Com. in Accountancy; and B.Sc. in Biotechnology, Computer Science, and Geography. Since 2018, it has also offered a BCA (Bachelor of Computer Applications) three-year course, as per a notification from the University of Burdwan, along with a BBA (Bachelor of Business Administration) course. Additionally, the institution offers a postgraduate programme in English. The college was recently accredited with a B++ grade in its first cycle of NAAC assessment.
