University Arts and Science College, Kakatiya University

University Arts & Science College is one of the oldest Arts and Science colleges in Telangana, situated in Subedari, Hanamakonda, on National Highway 163. Its origins trace back to 1927 when it began as a Collegiate High School. In 1954, the institution moved from the Government Junior College Buildings in Hanamkonda to its present site. It was upgraded in 1959 into a constituent college of Osmania University, offering undergraduate courses in Arts, Science, and Commerce. Following the establishment of Kakatiya University, the college was transferred to it on 19 August 1976, and postgraduate courses were introduced in 1995. Today, it is considered the second campus of Kakatiya University. The campus includes an English Language Laboratory, a library with reading halls and internet access, an air-conditioned seminar hall, computer labs, and specialized laboratories for Biotechnology, Microbiology, Physics, Electronics, Chemistry, Botany, and Zoology. It also has a 70-year-old auditorium, an amphitheatre, a health center, a multi-gym, and a large playground, with high-speed internet coverage throughout. The college offers 29 courses and combinations at undergraduate and postgraduate levels, including Biotechnology, Business Management, Commerce, Computer Applications, Computer Science, Electronics, Hindi, Human Resource Management, Microbiology, Organic Chemistry, Social Work, and Statistics. Notable alumni include P. V. Narasimha Rao, former Prime Minister of India, and Telugu poets Daasarathi and Kaloji Narayana Rao.
