INSTITUTE OF HOTEL MANAGEMENT

The Institute of Hotel Management (IHM), officially the Institute of Hotel Management, Catering Technology and Applied Nutrition (IHMCT&AN), is a multi-location public hospitality school in India. It was established by the Ministry of Tourism of the Government of India and falls under that ministry's jurisdiction. The institute network caters not only to Indian students but also to international students from SAARC nations. Admissions to IHM institutes are coordinated through the National Council for Hotel Management and Catering Technology (NCHMCT), an autonomous body set up by the Government of India in 1982 to promote coordinated growth and development of hospitality education in the country. Aspiring students gain admission through the National Council of Hotel Management and Catering Technology Joint Entrance Examination (NCHMCT JEE), a national-level entrance exam for hospitality and hotel administration programs. The IHM system includes central government, state government, and private institutes located across India. Notable alumni from various IHM campuses include chefs, actors, and entrepreneurs such as Sanjeev Kapoor, Vivek Singh, Manjit Gill, Ranveer Brar, Pankaj Tripathi, Anjan Chatterjee, and Gippy Grewal, among others, reflecting the diverse career paths pursued by graduates of the institute network.
