Patna Law College
Patna Law College is a public law college located in Patna, in the Indian state of Bihar. It is affiliated to Patna University, and its courses were approved by the Bar Council of India, based in New Delhi. The college was established in July 1909. Before its establishment, legal education in the area was provided at Patna College. Until 1917, Patna Law College was affiliated to Calcutta University. When Patna University was established in 1917, the college became affiliated to it instead. Up until 1 January 1952, Patna Law College operated as a government institution and functioned as an independent unit. From that date onward, it became a constituent college of Patna University, under the provisions of the Patna University Act, 1951. Thus, over the course of its history, the college transitioned from an independent government-run institution to becoming formally integrated into Patna University as one of its constituent colleges.
