Navsari Agricultural University

Navsari Agricultural University, located in Navsari, Gujarat, traces its origins to the Gujarat Agricultural University (GAU), which began operating in June 1972. GAU was established with the specific mandate of promoting agricultural productivity through research in agriculture and allied sciences, and it operated as a unique multi-campus institution with campuses at Sardarkrushinagar, Junagadh, Navsari, and Anand. Under GAU, there were 11 constituent colleges offering undergraduate and postgraduate education on a semester system. By 1996, the university had produced 8,532 graduates, 2,159 master's degree holders, and 393 PhD recipients across fields such as Agriculture, Veterinary Science, Dairy Science, Agricultural Engineering, Horticulture and Forestry, Home Science, and Fisheries. On May 1, 2004, the Gujarat Government, through the Gujarat Agricultural Universities Act 2004, dissolved GAU and converted its four campuses into four separate, independent universities. As a result, the Navsari campus became Navsari Agricultural University, while the other campuses became Sardarkrushinagar Dantiwada Agricultural University, Anand Agricultural University, and Junagadh Agricultural University.
