Amrita School of Medicine, Kochi

Amrita School of Medicine is a private medical school located in Kochi, India, affiliated with Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham, a private deemed university. It operates across two campuses, one in Kochi and another in Faridabad. The Kochi school was founded in 2002 by Mata Amritanandamayi Devi, a spiritual leader and humanitarian, with the goal of providing high-quality medical education to students from all backgrounds; the Faridabad school followed in 2022. The institution is accredited by the National Medical Commission (NMC) of India and the World Health Organization (WHO). It offers five-year undergraduate MBBS programs leading to the Doctor of Medicine degree, as well as postgraduate MD, MS, and DM programs in various specialties. The schools are attached to Amrita Hospital, Kochi and Amrita Hospital, Faridabad, alongside nursing, pharmacy, and allied health sciences programs. Research is a major focus, with centers such as the Amrita Center for Nanomedicine, Cancer Research, and Organ Transplantation, and over 10,000 published research papers with more than $100 million in research funding. In NIRF rankings, it was ranked 6th best medical school in India in 2023 and 8th in 2022. It was the first Indian institute accredited by the National Accreditation Board for Hospitals & Healthcare Providers, with labs accredited by NABL and ISO.
