Ramaiah Institute of Technology (RIT), formerly known as M.S. Ramaiah Institute of Technology (MSRIT), is a private engineering college in Bengaluru, Karnataka, established in 1962 by M. S. Ramaiah, an educationist, philanthropist, and civil contractor. It is part of the Gokula Education Foundation, which manages several educational institutions. Initially affiliated with Mysore University, then Bangalore University until 2002, RIT is now affiliated with Visvesvaraya Technological University (VTU). Since August 2007, the institute has had academic autonomy for both undergraduate and postgraduate programs, though VTU still awards degrees. RIT offers courses including Bachelor of Engineering, Bachelor of Architecture, Master of Technology, and MBA, and serves as a research centre in 12 areas. It has 24 departments covering fields such as Aerospace Engineering, Architecture, Artificial Intelligence, Biotechnology, and more. The institute has hostel facilities, gyms, libraries, and internet access for students. It is recognised by AICTE, ISO 9001:2008 certified, and accredited by the National Board of Accreditation. RIT has partnered with ISRO on satellite projects, developed India's first UAV with autopilot, and established centers of excellence with IBM, Intel, JSW Energy, and Schneider Electric.
