Sri Venkateswara College of Engineering
Sri Venkateswara College of Engineering (SVCE) is an engineering institution situated at Pennalur, Sriperumbudur, near Chennai, Tamil Nadu. It was founded in November 1985 by the Southern Petrochemical Industries Corporation (SPIC) group under the Sri Venkateswara Educational and Health Trust, initially offering courses in Mechanical, Electronics and Communication, and Computer Science Engineering awarded by the University of Madras. The college moved to its Pennalur campus in 1991 and gained AICTE approval the same year. Electrical & Electronics and Chemical Engineering courses began in 1994, and in 1996 SVCE became the first college in India to offer Information Technology. The institution obtained autonomy from UGC in 2016 and ISO 21001:2018 certification in 2024. It holds NAAC grade A+ and was ranked in the 151-200 band by NIRF in 2023. SVCE is recognized among the top engineering colleges affiliated with Anna University and has eleven departments approved as collaborative research centres for PhD studies. The campus includes a large library, sports infrastructure, and a technology innovation center supporting research, including nanotechnology studies backed by SPIC and FIST.
