Gossner College

Gossner College is one of the oldest institutions established by the Gossner Evangelical and Lutheran Church. It functions as a minority college and is affiliated to Ranchi University. The college is governed by the Gossner Evangelical and Lutheran Church of Chotanagpur and Assam and was founded in 1971. Its primary objective was to provide Tribal Christian young men and women, as well as socially, economically backward and underprivileged and privileged communities of the region—namely the Scheduled Tribes, the Scheduled Castes, and other backward classes—an opportunity for higher education in a Christian atmosphere. Gossner College is regarded as one of the premier centres of higher education in the state of Jharkhand. It offers Intermediate and Undergraduate Learning Programmes in the streams of science, commerce, and arts, catering to a diverse student population seeking academic advancement. The institution continues to serve as an important educational resource within Ranchi and the broader region, reflecting its foundational mission of inclusive and accessible higher education for marginalized and privileged communities alike.
