Shri Ram Murti Smarak College of Engineering and Technology (SRMSCET), Bareilly, was established in 1996 as the first institution founded by the SRMS Trust, which was created in memory of the late Shri Ram Murti Ji. It is part of a broader network of SRMS Institutions that has since expanded to include colleges and centers in Bareilly, Lucknow, and Unnao, covering fields such as engineering, pharmacy, medicine, nursing, and business. Sister institutions established later include the SRMS College of Engineering and Technology (Pharmacy) in 2000, the SRMS Institute of Medical Sciences in 2005, and the SRMS College of Engineering and Technology in Unnao in 2011. Engineering colleges under the SRMS Trust, such as the one in Unnao, are approved by the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) and affiliated with Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam Technical University (AKTU), Lucknow, formerly known as Uttar Pradesh Technical University (UPTU). The SRMS network holds an annual convocation ceremony on 8 February to recognize student achievements across its institutions.
