Jawaharlal Nehru Institute of Medical Sciences

The Jawaharlal Nehru Institute of Medical Sciences (JNIMS) is a premier state-funded medical college and hospital situated in Porompat, Imphal East, Manipur. It began in 1989 as Jawaharlal Nehru Hospital, commonly known as JN Hospital, and has since expanded to encompass 21 departments. In 2017, a separate Dental College was added to the institute. As of May 2019, JNIMS had produced eleven academic batches, comprising nine batches from the MBBS course and two from the BDS course. The institute's hospital facilities include four blocks: a separate OPD Block, a Medicine block, and a main block that houses various wards such as the Casualty ward and Special ward, with the Dental OPD located near the BDS Lecture Halls. For student accommodation, there are four separate hostels for MBBS undergraduate boys and a co-ed hostel for BDS students, while MBBS girls are housed in a single, well-equipped hostel for enhanced security, and BDS girls share the co-ed hostel with boys. Postgraduates, residents, and interns are provided separate accommodation. Academically, the MBBS program is structured into nine semesters, which include four University Examinations.
