ANDAMAN LAW COLLEGE
Andaman Law College (ALC) is a government law school in Port Blair, India, established in 2016 by the Andaman & Nicobar Islands Legal Education Society (ANILES) under the Andaman & Nicobar Administration. It is entirely government-funded and run by ANILES, with the Lt. Governor as president, the Chief Secretary as chairman, and the Law Secretary as Vice Chairman. The college operates from a moderately sized interim campus in Transport Bhawan, Phoenix Bay, Port Blair. It has 10 full-time faculty members, including the principal, recruited per University Grants Commission norms. The college is affiliated with Pondicherry University and approved by the Bar Council of India. It admits 45 students annually for the B.A.LL.B. program, following government reservation rules. The library holds over 3029 books and provides access to online legal research databases. The college hosts events like Freshers Day, Annual Day, and a National Seminar on tribal rights in 2018. Law professors provide free legal aid weekly, and students participate in Lok Adalat sittings, debate competitions, and social initiatives such as Kerala flood relief fundraising in 2018. In 2024, the college celebrated its first Saraswati Pooja.
