GALGOTIAS UNIVERSITY
Galgotias University (GU) is a private university situated on the Yamuna Expressway in Dankaur, Uttar Pradesh, India, founded in 2011 by Suneel Galgotia, who has served as its chancellor. The institution has faced multiple controversies over the years. These include a land acquisition dispute stemming from the 2011 Gajraj case, a 2014 loan default and fraud case involving its parent organization, the Shakuntala Educational and Welfare Society, and a 2020 controversy over a retracted research paper claiming sound vibrations could kill the COVID-19 virus. In 2026, the university drew global attention after falsely claiming credit for technology demonstrated at the AI Impact Summit in New Delhi, leading to its expulsion from the event and a subsequent apology. The university has also been linked to political events, such as mobilizing students for the inauguration of the Noida International Airport and protests against a political party's manifesto. Academically, in 2025, the university launched a Bachelor of Arts program in Digital Media and Communication in partnership with the India Today Group. The university has hosted notable figures at its convocation ceremonies, including government officials and entrepreneurs.
