INDIAN INSTITUTE OF PACKAGING
The Indian Institute of Packaging (IIP) is an autonomous apex body operating under the administrative control of the Ministry of Commerce and Industry, Government of India, established in 1966 under the Societies Registration Act of 1860. Its objective is to improve packaging standards in the country through training and education, testing and certification, research and development, and consultancy and projects. Headquartered in Mumbai, IIP has centres in Delhi, Kolkata, Hyderabad, and Chennai, with testing facilities also at Ahmedabad. The Delhi campus offers the Master of Science in Packaging Technology and Bachelor of Science in Packaging Technology, both affiliated with Guru Gobind Singh Indraprastha University. Admission to IIP courses is through the All India Common Entrance Test (IIP-CET) and personal interviews, with merit lists released for selection. IIP also confers the INDIASTAR and PACMACHINE national awards recognizing excellence in packaging design and machinery. In 2021, the Government of India introduced a draft bill to declare IIP as an Institute of National Importance. The institute organizes an annual event called 'Packfest' and reports full placement assistance for its graduates.
