University College of Medical Sciences (UCMS) is a public medical college located in Delhi, India, affiliated with the University of Delhi. It is associated with Guru Teg Bahadur Hospital (GTB), which functions as its teaching hospital and has 1000 beds. UCMS was founded in 1971 through the efforts of the Health Minister of Delhi to provide more medical education opportunities, as existing colleges like MAMC and LHMC could not accommodate all qualified students. Initially classes were held at the Department of Chemistry on the North Campus of the University of Delhi, with clinical postings at Safdarjung Hospital, before the college moved to Safdarjung Hospital and then, in 1986, to its present campus at Dilshad Garden. UCMS offers medical and paramedical courses and serves East Delhi and surrounding border areas. It is a network centre for the National Brain Research Centre and one of Delhi's three public trauma centres. The college has twenty-one departments, a central library with departmental libraries, two hostels, and various technological and residential facilities. It was ranked 10th among medical colleges in India by India Today in 2024 and 32nd by NIRF.
