Bidhan Chandra Krishi Viswavidyalaya (BCKV), also called Bidhan Chandra Agricultural University, is a state agricultural university in West Bengal, India, providing theoretical and technical education in Agriculture, Horticulture and Agricultural Engineering, and awarding B.Sc., M.Sc., B.Tech., M.Tech. and Ph.D. degrees. Its main campus features faculty buildings, laboratories, workshops, hostels, a Medicinal & Aromatic Plants' Garden, a cafeteria, canteens, a health centre and other facilities, and is shared with the Faculty of Dairy Technology, West Bengal University of Animal & Fishery Sciences and IISER Kolkata, connected by a foot-bridge over a lake. The university also has sub-campuses, the College of Agriculture at Burdwan and the College of Agriculture at Susunia, Bankura. Governance includes the Governor of West Bengal as chancellor, a vice-chancellor as chief executive, supported by a registrar, comptroller, deans and directors. The Faculty of Agriculture has 16 departments, the Faculty of Horticulture was established in 1996 with facilities at Mondouri and Jagulia, and the Faculty of Agricultural Engineering offers M.Tech. and Ph.D. programmes. The Directorate of Research at Kalyani coordinates research stations, while the Directorate of Extension Education, created in 1994, manages extension services across West Bengal.
