Sri Devaraj Urs Medical College

Sri Devaraj Urs Medical College was established in 1986 by the Sri Devaraj Urs Educational Trust in Kolar, Karnataka, India. It later became the constituent college of Sri Devaraj Urs University, now known as Sri Devaraj Urs Academy of Higher Education and Research, which was conferred deemed-to-be-university status under Section 3 of the UGC Act 1956 on 25 May 2007. The Medical Council of India recognized its undergraduate course in 1992, and postgraduate degree and diploma courses have been offered since 1997 across clinical, pre-clinical, and paraclinical subjects. The college received NAAC accreditation and ISO 9001–2000 certification in 2006. It offers MBBS at the undergraduate level and MD/MS courses in 15 postgraduate subjects, including Medicine, Pediatrics, Surgery, and Ophthalmology, among others. Admissions are merit-based through an all-India entrance test, with 85% of seats reserved for general merit candidates and 15% for NRI and foreign nationals. The college is associated with RL Jalappa Hospital and Research Centre, a 1200-bed hexagonal teaching hospital located on campus, which supports clinical training for undergraduate and postgraduate students across all medical specialties.
