TRIPURA STATE ACADEMY OF TRIBAL CULTURE, AGARTALA

The Tripura State Tribal Museum is situated within the premises of the Tribal Research and Cultural Institute in Agartala, India. It was created to promote and preserve tribal heritage and culture. The museum's exhibits are organized into various sections including a Video Wall, Tribal Life Dioramas, Miscellaneous displays, an Auditorium, Touch screen Kiosks, Natural History, Art and Crafts, and an Anthropology & Folk Art & Arms section. Sculptures from the Tripura region are categorized into four principal types: stone, wood, metal, and terracotta, and the collections on display are considered very rare. The museum also has a library, established in 2009, containing periodicals, journals, and books on art, culture, mythology, biography, and encyclopedic works, along with Asiatic Society journals. The museum hosts events such as the State Level Tribal Festival, a Folk dance competition, and Kok-Borok day. It is open six days a week, from 10:00am to 5:00pm in summer and 10:00am to 4:30pm in winter, except on Mondays, the 2nd and 4th Saturdays, and government holidays. It has been temporarily closed due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
