ICMR-Regional Medical Research Centre, Bhubaneswar

National Institute of Health Research, Bhubaneswar, also known as NIHR, Bhubaneswar or ICMR-NIHR, Bhubaneswar, is an organization in the field of medical research established in Bhubaneswar, Odisha, India. It was established in 1981 by the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR), New Delhi. The institute's main focus area of research is on locally prevailing communicable and non-communicable diseases, tribal health, and malnutrition in Odisha and adjoining states. Sanhamitra Pati serves as the Director of the institute. In January 2023, Mansukh Mandaviya, the Union Minister for Health and Family Welfare, inaugurated the annex building of the institute. On the same occasion, he laid the foundation stone for the School of Public Health and a Biosafety Level 3 (BSL-3) Laboratory to be built at the same facility. These developments reflect the institute's ongoing expansion of its research and training capabilities in the field of public health and infectious disease research.
