GOVERNMENT NURSING COLLEGE, MYSORE
The Government Ayurveda Medical College and Hospital, established in 1908 in Mysore, is a government-run institution dedicated to Ayurveda, the traditional system of Indian medicine. It is regarded as the oldest academic institute in India offering education in Ayurvedic medicine. The college provides undergraduate education leading to the Bachelor of Ayurvedic Medicine and Surgery (BAMS) degree, as well as postgraduate education leading to the Doctor of Medicine (MD) degree in the specializations of Ayurveda Siddhantha and Ayurveda Kayachikitsa. In 2018, two new postgraduate departments were introduced, focusing on Panchakarma and Swasthavritta. The institution is affiliated with the Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences in Bangalore, a unitary university established in 1996 by the Government of Karnataka to regulate and promote higher education in health sciences across the state. Additionally, the college follows the educational regulations for traditional medicine set by the Central Council of Indian Medicine (CCIM), based in New Delhi, ensuring that its academic programs meet national standards for Ayurvedic education.
