FOOTWEAR DESIGN AND DEVELOPMENT INSTITUTE - CHHINDWARA

Footwear Design and Development Institute (FDDI) is an educational institute headquartered in Sector-24, Noida, Uttar Pradesh, with campuses across India including one in Chhindwara, Madhya Pradesh. FDDI was established in 1986 under the aegis of the Ministry of Commerce and Industry, Government of India, with the objective of providing human resource and technical services to the industry. It was upgraded to an Institute of National Importance by an act of parliament in 2017. Besides Chhindwara, FDDI has campuses at Noida, Fursatganj (Raebareli), Chandigarh, Ankleshwar, Guna, Chennai, Patna, Hyderabad, Kolkata, Rohtak, and Jodhpur. Admission to its undergraduate and postgraduate courses is through the FDDI All India Selection Test (FDDI-AIST), a national-level entrance examination conducted in two stages: a pen-and-paper design and general aptitude test, followed by counselling. FDDI conducts professional courses in fashion design, footwear design and production, retail and fashion management, and leather lifestyle and product designing, with long-term Bachelor of Design programs lasting four years. The institute also engages in industrial consultancy, research and development, and training of industry professionals. Its facilities include computer labs, photography labs, pattern making and draping labs, weaving labs, dyeing and printing labs, technology labs, garment technology labs, leather design labs, accessory design labs, and digital classrooms.
