Bidar Institute of Medical Sciences

Bidar Institute of Medical Sciences, abbreviated as BRIMS, is a district Government Hospital and medical college located in Bidar, Karnataka, functioning as an autonomous institute under the Government of Karnataka. It is recognised by the National Medical Commission and affiliated to Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences. The institution was initially tagged to the 300-bed Bidar district hospital, later upgraded to a new 750-bed BRIMS teaching hospital with an eight-storey building featuring departmental OTs, a central lab, and upgraded equipment, inaugurated in 2017. MBBS intake started at 100 annually and increased to 150 per annum from 2017, with admissions through NEET UG. PG seats exist in Anatomy, Physiology, Biochemistry, Pharmacology, Forensic medicine, and Community medicine, with clinical department seats expected from 2018 in Medicine, Surgery, Ophthalmology, ENT, and Pediatrics, admitted via NEET PG. The institute hosts a zonal pharmacovigilance centre and a NODAL reference lab under the National Tuberculosis Control Programme. The campus spans about 45 acres and includes the main college, hospital buildings, staff quarters, UG and PG hostels with mess facilities, and a 24x7 blood bank, alongside anti-ragging measures and nearby recreational facilities like Nehru stadium and a swimming pool.
