GOVT MEDICAL COLLEGE DODA
Government Medical College Doda (GMC Doda) is one of the ten government medical colleges functioning in the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir, India. It was established in 2020, as part of a significant expansion of medical education infrastructure that took place between 2019 and 2023, when seven new government medical colleges were set up across underserved districts of the Jammu and Kashmir divisions. GMC Doda offers an MBBS programme, with admissions based on merit in NEET-UG. Counselling for J&K and Ladakh domiciled candidates is conducted by the Jammu and Kashmir Board of Professional Entrance Examinations (JKBOPEE), while a portion of seats fall under the All India Quota managed by the Medical Counselling Committee (MCC). Along with GMC Handwara and GMC Udhampur, GMC Doda is among the three most recently established government medical colleges in Jammu and Kashmir, and as of the text, it has not yet received National Medical Commission (NMC) approval to offer postgraduate MD/MS programmes, unlike seven other colleges in the region that already provide postgraduate medical education.
