University College for Women, Koti

University College for Women, Koti, now known as Veeranari Chakali Ilamma Women's University, is a state university located in Hyderabad, India. It was established in 1924 during the reign of the Nizam as the Zenena Intermediate College of Girls, starting with just 7 students at the 'Golden Threshold' premises. Over time it expanded academically, adding Intermediate Science in 1932, bachelor degree courses in 1935, and B.Ed and B.Sc. (Domestic Science) in 1941. In 1949, the campus moved to the former British Residency, a historic building commissioned in 1803 for British officer James Achilles Kirkpatrick, notable for its Palladian architecture and heritage status recognized by INTACH and the World Monuments Fund. The college became a constituent college of Osmania University with autonomous status from 1989, offering postgraduate courses from 1979 and additional specialized programs like MCA and MBA from 1993. It holds NAAC 'A' grade accreditation and CPE status renewed in 2016-17. In April 2022, it was upgraded to university status as Telangana Mahila Viswavidyalayam, later renamed in 2024 after Chakali Ilamma. The campus spans 42 acres and serves about 4000 students, mostly from Telangana.
