Haridev Joshi University of Journalism and Mass Communication (HJU) is a state university located in Jaipur, Rajasthan, India. A similarly named university, HJUJ, was originally established in 2012 by the Congress government but was closed in 2015 by the succeeding BJP government, with its courses transferred to Rajasthan University. After the Congress government returned to power in December 2018, a new university was constituted through the State Legislature's Act No. 11 of 2019, established on March 1, 2019, at the premises of the historical Khasa Kothi. It was again named after journalist and former Chief Minister Haridev Joshi. Newspaper editor Om Thanvi was appointed as the university's first vice-chancellor on March 8, 2019, and the university opened for the 2019–2020 academic year. In August 2022, Prof. Sudhi Rajiv was appointed vice-chancellor. The university offers a three-year undergraduate Bachelor of Arts in Journalism and Mass Communication (BA-JMC), Master of Arts degrees (MA-JMC) in various specializations including Media Studies, Electronic Media, Development Communication, Advertising & Public Relations, and New Media, along with PG Diploma programs and a PhD program.
