NATIONAL INSTITUTE OF ELECTRONICS & INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY,GORAKHPUR

The Gorakhpur center is part of the National Institute of Electronics and Information Technology (NIELIT), formerly known as the DOEACC Society, an autonomous scientific society under the administrative control of the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology, Government of India. The Gorakhpur center originated as a Centre for Electronic Design and Technology (CEDT), one of several such centers established across India following the model first set up at the Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore, to bridge the gap between academic institutions and industry through specialized electronics design training. In December 2002, the CEDT center in Gorakhpur, along with similar centers in Aurangabad, Calicut, Imphal, Srinagar/Jammu, and Tezpur/Guwahati, and Regional Computer Centres in Chandigarh and Kolkata, were merged into the DOEACC Society, expanding its network and operations. On 10 October 2011, the DOEACC Society was renamed NIELIT to reflect its broader mandate in electronics and Information and Communication Technology education. Today, the Gorakhpur center functions as part of NIELIT's network of over 56 centers across India, offering formal and non-formal courses including the O, A, B, and C level courses in IT and electronics.
