National Power Training Institute

National Power Training Institute (NPTI) is a government training institution operating under the Ministry of Power in Faridabad, India. Over the course of its existence, spanning the tenure of successive Indian governments, NPTI has grown continuously in scope and capability. Initially, the institute conducted training exclusively in thermal power generation. However, it has since equipped itself to provide training across all segments of the power sector, encompassing generation, transmission, and distribution. Over the last four decades of its existence, NPTI has trained thousands of individuals, including engineers, supervisors, and technicians. These trainees have come from a wide range of backgrounds, including most of the Electricity Boards in India, as well as public and private sector utilities. Additionally, NPTI has extended its training services to personnel from developing nations, reflecting its role not only within India but also as a resource for international capacity building in the power sector. The institute's evolution from a narrowly focused thermal power training body to a comprehensive power sector training institution highlights its adaptability and responsiveness to the changing needs of the power industry over several decades.
