D.A.V. DEGREE COLLEGE, LUCKNOW
D.A.V. P.G. College, also known as DAV Degree College, is a Government-Aided degree college affiliated to the University of Lucknow and recognised by the University Grants Commission. It was established in 1948 by Pandit Ras Bihari Tiwari and Shri Bhrigu Dutt Tiwari, and is based on the ideals of Dayananda Saraswati and Arya Samaj. The college traces its origin to a school started in the premises of an Arya Samaj temple in the Ganeshganj locality in 1918. In 1926, the school shifted to its present premises, and graduate classes began in 1956. The main campus is located in Arya Nagar, near Naka Hindola, about 1 km from Charbagh Railway Station. The college offers graduate courses in Arts, Law, and Science, and operates two campuses—one for Law and another for Arts and Science. In 2012, India Today ranked the college among the top 5 'Best Science Colleges in Lucknow.' The college hosts an annual fest called Abhivyakyti and publishes a magazine titled Deepshikha, which features student contributions.
