MAA SHAKUMBHARI UNIVERSITY
Maa Shakumbhari University is a state university situated in Saharanpur, Uttar Pradesh. It was established under the Uttar Pradesh State Universities (Amendment) Act, 2019, through Uttar Pradesh Act no. 6 of 2019. The university was originally named Saharanpur State University, and construction on its campus began by 2021. In August 2021, it was renamed Maa Shakumbhari University via Uttar Pradesh Act no. 19 of 2021. The institution was formed by upgrading the Government Degree College, Punwarka, which had been established in 1999. Following its creation, the university took over the affiliation of all government and private degree colleges located in the districts of Muzaffarnagar, Saharanpur, and Shamli. These colleges had previously been affiliated with Chaudhary Charan Singh University before being transferred to the new institution. The university thus serves as a regional academic body overseeing higher education institutions across these three districts in Uttar Pradesh.
