Indian Institute of Information Technology Agartala

Indian Institute of Information Technology, Agartala (IIIT Agartala) is one of the 20 IIITs set up under the non-profit Public-Private Partnership (PPP) model. The project to establish the institute was approved in 2012. It currently functions from within the campus of NIT Agartala, pending completion of its own permanent 52-acre campus located in Bodhjung Nagar near Agartala. In 2020, the institute was granted the status of Institute of National Importance. At present, the Computer Science and Engineering department is the only academic branch offered at IIIT Agartala. This department is mentored by the CSE department of NIT Agartala, whose faculty members are responsible for conducting the courses. The faculty of the Computer Science and Engineering branch includes Prof. Mrinal Kanti Deb Barma, who serves as Professor and Head of the Department, holding a Ph.D from Assam University, an M.Tech from NIT Allahabad, and a B.Tech from IET, Lucknow University. Other faculty members include Dr. Sushmita Sharma, an Assistant Professor with a B.Tech from TIT Narsingarh, an M.Tech from HIT West Bengal, and a Ph.D from NIT Agartala, and Dr. Sayeda Zeenat Marshoodulla, an Assistant Professor holding a Ph.D from NEHU Shillong.
