Laxminarayan Innovation Technological University (LITU) is a public state university located in Nagpur, Maharashtra, India. Established in 1942 as the Laxminarayan Institute of Technology, it is one of India's oldest institutions for Chemical Engineering and Technology. The institute was founded using land and funds donated by Rao Bahadur D. Laxminarayan of Kamptee, who bequeathed his property to Nagpur University for the teaching of applied science and chemistry. It began with a two-year BSc (Tech) program in Chemical Engineering, Chemical Technology, and Oil Technology, later expanding to include Food Technology, Petrochemical Technology, Pulp and Paper Technology, Plastics and Polymers Technology, and Surface Coating Technology, among others. Over the decades, the institute introduced various undergraduate and postgraduate courses, including BTech and MTech programs. In August 2023, the Maharashtra state legislature passed a bill converting the institute into a full-fledged university, now known as Laxminarayan Innovation Technological University. Admissions are conducted through the Maharashtra Health and Technical Common Entrance Test and JEE Mains. The institute has been ranked among India's top engineering colleges and holds an A+ NAAC accreditation with a CGPA of 3.48 out of 4.
